We want to highlight and introduce you to an organization doing much good in and around our Kalas plants in Denver, PA: One Wish Foundation. This foundation is making a huge impact in the lives of families with special needs children and veterans in our communities. They state their mission as “to provide children with life-altering medical and social conditions the opportunity to experience a once in a lifetime outdoor adventure” and that is exactly what they do.
Families who have a child with a life-altering condition can come to the One Wish Foundation to request a wish for whatever outdoor adventure they can dream up – fishing, boating, hunting, hiking – anything they can make possible. One Wish, through the generosity of donors, makes their wish come true and on top of that, they give the families a digital recording of their adventure so it can last a lifetime!
It is the One Wish Foundation’s goal to provide experiences for these children that will take them out of their challenging day-to-day and give them a refreshing experience in the outdoors.
These adventures and their gift of videography/photography can take a lot of funds. To make their mission possible, the One Wish Foundation holds several large events each year. In June they hold a fishing event for families and in November they create an experience for local veterans where they can pheasant hunt with a provided guide dog.
During this challenging year, they still are able to hold their annual fundraisers, one of which was a poker run and pig roast earlier this Fall which raised $12,000 – something they are humbly grateful for in an uncertain year!
One Wish Foundation has a long-term goal of creating a Ranch to allow them to provide lodging and a year-round escape for families who are in need of taking a break from the challenges of living with a life-altering condition.
