The Kalas Sylvin Foundation is delighted to offer support to the United Disabilities Services (UDS) organization. Located in the Greenfield Corporate Center, they claim to be “The best secret in Lancaster”.  Their wide range of services offer resources, support and activities to individuals with disabilities. For over more than a half century, the UDS Foundation outreach has grown from an isolated individual who benefited from community support to a network of thousands whose needs may be otherwise overlooked or unsupported.  Some of the available services include:

  • Accessing Independence: Independent Living Services and Adult Enrichment – personal care in home for people with disabilities and the elderly.
  • Supports Coordination – day programs that provide mentally alert adults with disabilities education, social and recreational opportunities.
  • Custom Wheelchair Seating – creating chairs that compassionately support individuals to prevent sores and increase life quality.
  • Accessible Home Modifications – providing alterations to homes to support the life and needs of someone with disabilities.
  • Employment Services – providing assessment and needed tools to support and prepare individuals to apply, interview and become employed successfully.
  • Transition School – classroom setting for high school students get the resources and custom education they would need to be ready for employment and life on their own.
  • Youth Sports and Recreation – fun supportive environment where disabled individuals can participate in flag foot ball or cheerleading with the help of buddies.
  • Service Dogs – trained to improve the lives of both the owners and their families
  • Independent Living Resource Center –  priceless recourse to those faced with the overwhelming task of navigating how to get the needed healthcare support for a loved one may need when faced with a new or worsening disability.
  • UDS eStore – offering a wide variety of home modifications for disabilities

For those living with a disability or living with a loved one who has a disability, the services offered from UDS Foundation are life changing. The resources they provide make each life more manageable, feel well supported and even breathe back dignity into their situations by easing crippling realities a disability creates.
