Glenn Martin MDA Ride for Life 2018

The Muscular Dystrophy Associations Ride for Life occurs every May for the past 30 years, 20 of which Kalas own Glenn Martin has given his time and support of. This year was a record breaking year for the ride raising over $1.2 Million to fight Muscular Dystophy! Glenn and his wife Dianne raised over $3,000 on their own for the cause.

The ride’s events spanning 4 days occurred May 3 – May 6, 2018 and include parades, meals, music, activities and a lot of excitement. Despite all of the flashy events and things to do, Glenn’s favorite part is the people and the reason behind why the 4 days exist. It’s seeing “old friends” who are young children struggling against the disease. He loves seeing them, catching up, seeing how they are doing and getting to enjoy the event together.  There are years where some of his friends are not doing well. It breaks his heart knowing there are drugs that could help, but regulations or lack of money keep the aid from being acquired by those who deeply need it. Seeing all of these friends smile and enjoy the 4 days as a relief from their normal life with special needs is the reason Glenn keeps coming back each year. He sees how much of a difference it makes in their lives and the lives of those the funds support.

We are incredibly grateful to have hearts like Glenn’s working at Kalas and are happy to have been able to support him in 2018’s Ride for life!
