glen-martin-colorGlen Martin has been a dedicated Kalas associate for 29 years; and has worn both his hair and beard long throughout his entire career. This year he is doing something very special; cutting off his signature hair and long beard to support a worthwhile cause that is dear to him – the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Muscular Dystrophy is a neuromuscular disease that eventually causes loss of muscle mass. The MDA offers support to the adults and children suffering from the disease by sending them to summer camp, providing wheelchairs, off-setting medical expenses, and helping to fund research to find a cure.

Glen became involved with MDA fifteen years ago as a participant in their annual Ride for Life event. The MDA Ride for Life is the key event in raising money to fund the non-profit organization every year. It consists of a fun weekend filled with food, music, entertainment and a culminating parade where motorcyclists like Glen get to ride those who suffer from MD around on their bikes. To Glen, it’s a touching experience where he can make a personal difference in the lives of those touched by MD.

This year, he wanted to do even more for those in need, which got him thinking. After careful thought, he decided he would offer to cut the beard he has had most of his adult life to increase his fundraising efforts.

Glen has a goal of raising $2,500 by April 26. If he reaches his goal, he will let two kids with MD cut off his hair and beard at the Classic Harley Davidson in Berks County, (983 James Drive, Leesport, PA 19533) April 26 at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the event, and all financial assistance in helping Glen to reach his fund raising goal is appreciated. Join us in supporting Glen and helping this worthwhile cause!
