Kalas is proud of the continued commitment of its associates to lend their support to charitable organizations.

In September, Glen Martin (Kalas Engineered Cable Products Division machine operator of our K3 Denver, PA facility) participated in a Muscular Dystrophy Association event on his beloved Harley Davidson. Unlike previous rides, this one was specifically coordinated for Steve; a 47 year old man battling Muscular Dystrophy who had requested a ride on a Harley Davidson for his birthday.

2014-08-24-10.39.28Steve came from a family of bikers, but never had the opportunity to take a ride personally.  Glen took Steve for a 40+ mile ride with a dozen other motorcyclists following them, in hopes of putting a smile on his face and creating a lifelong memory for him.

By the end of the ride, Glen noticed Steve was crying. Concerned, he asked Steve if something was wrong. Steve responded with a broad grin before proclaiming, “This is the best thing I’ve ever done!”

The Kalas Sylvin Foundation is proud to offer continued support to both Glen and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in their efforts to help cure Muscular Dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research.
