mix-photo-webWe are proud to be able to partner with the Mix at Arbor Place; a non-profit organization that offers support to the disadvantaged youth in Southeast Lancaster City. Each weeknight 80-100 students ages 7 to 17 come to Arbor Place after school to participate in fun, engaging programs suited to each child’s interests. In addition to the educational programs, Arbor Place serves more than 3,000 free meals throughout the year in their “What’s for Dinner” program.  For many Arbor Place students, lunch is their last meal of the day so the ability to offer a nourishing dinner is critical to their well-being.

Not only does Arbor Place provide a safe place and meals, they challenge, encourage, and inspire each student within their programing. In a structured after school program, students have the opportunity to choose enrichment classes including computer programing, financial literacy, artistic endeavors like spoken word, dance, art and more. Each night students receive help completing their homework and have time to exercise in fun challenging ways like archery, yoga, and pitching practice.

The possibilities offered to these students are vast and the support they receive from staff and volunteers gives everyone a safe place to grow and believe in themselves.  The assistance of the Arbor Place in these children’s lives has shown to increase test scores, confidence, and skill development.
